Job Description

JOB – Design Engineer (HVAC / BMS)

LOCATION – Wakefield

TERM – Permanent

SALARY – £30,000 to £40,000 per annum (plus benefits)


My client is a leading Building Services and Controls Engineering company based in Wakefield, specialising in the design, installation, and commissioning of HVAC and Building Management Systems (BMS) for commercial and industrial environments. They are looking to expand their design team by taking on a Design Engineer with experience in HVAC and BMS systems.


The Design Engineer (HVAC / BMS) will ideally have the following attributes:

• Experience in the design of HVAC systems and/or BMS control systems

• Understanding of mechanical and electrical building services

• Proficiency with AutoCAD or similar design software

• Strong knowledge of air handling units, ventilation, heating, and cooling systems

• Excellent communication and problem-solving skills

• Ability to work on multiple projects and meet deadlines

• Relevant engineering qualification (HNC, HND, or Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Building Services Engineering)


The Design Engineer (HVAC / BMS) role will involve:

• Producing detailed HVAC and BMS designs and schematics

• Working closely with project engineers, contractors, and clients to deliver high-quality designs

• Preparing technical documentation, specifications, and layout drawings

• Assisting with system selection, sizing, and control strategies

• Supporting installation and commissioning teams with design information

• Ensuring compliance with industry standards and project requirements
