We’re recruiting for an R&D Design & Development Engineer to join a growing, fast-paced engineering team delivering high-quality injection moulded products into global healthcare markets. This is a practical, design-focused role where you’ll be heavily involved in CAD, prototyping, and real-world product development—not just managing projects from a distance.

The Role

You’ll work within a small, collaborative R&D team, taking ownership of product design and development activities across the full lifecycle—from concept through to manufacturing handover.
\n
This is an ideal role for someone who thrives in a hands-on environment and enjoys seeing their designs transition into production.

Key Responsibilities

Product Design & Development
\n

Design and develop products using 3D CAD (SolidWorks / Solid Edge)
\n
\n
- \n

Produce detailed engineering drawings, models, and specifications
\n
\n
- \n
- \n
Take concepts through prototyping, testing, and into manufacture
\n
\n
- \n
- \n
Support rapid prototyping and 3D printing activities
\n
\n
- \n
- \n
Design and develop injection moulded components and assemblies
\n
\n
- \n
- \n
Drive innovation to improve usability and manufacturability
\n
\n
Injection Moulding & Manufacturing
\n
- \n
- \n
Apply Design for Manufacture (DFM) principles, specifically for injection moulding
\n
\n
- \n
- \n
Work with toolmakers and suppliers on mould design considerations
\n
\n
- \n
- \n
Support manufacturing teams with product optimisation and cost reduction
\n
\n
Testing & Compliance
\n
- \n
- \n
Assist with Verification & Validation (V&V) activities
- \n
Ensure compliance with ISO13485 and regulated design processes
\n
\n
\n
Collaboration & Improvement
\n
- \n
- \n
Work cross-functionally with Quality, Operations, and Regulatory teams
- \n
Participate in FMEA, root cause analysis, and continuous improvement initiatives
\n
\n
\n
\n
Essential
\n
- \n
- \n
Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Product Design, Medical Engineering or similar
\n
\n
- \n
- \n
Experience in product design & development in a manufacturing environment
\n
\n
- \n
- \n
Strong 3D CAD skills (SolidWorks or Solid Edge)
\n
\n
- \n
- \n
Experience or exposure to injection moulding
\n
\n
- \n
- \n
Good understanding of Design for Manufacture (DFM)
\n
\n
Desirable
\n
- \n
- \n
3–5 years’ experience in R&D
\n
\n
- \n
- \n
Experience in regulated industries (medical devices, pharma, FMCG)
\n
\n
- \n
- \n
Understanding of ISO13485 and V&V processes
\n
\n
