DESIGN ENGINEER R&D TE
LBI is seeking a “Hands On/Can Do” creative leader to develop, prototype and produce innovative products and systems
LBI has 54 years of experience designing & building innovative technology solutions for the undersea, maritime, defense and commercial space, with a particular specialty in marine composite systems. It is a one stop shop for design, prototyping, testing, and manufacturing of composite and steel hull structures, mooring systems, weather data collection buoys, underwater vehicles, and UUV launch and recovery systems in the growing undersea defense marketplace. LBI is positioned well to supply the growth of the submarine fleet and unmanned systems for defense. Some of our customers include the Office of Naval Research, Carderock Naval Surface Warfare Center, Naval Undersea Warfare Center Newport, NOAA, Electric Boat, Newport News Shipyard, Bath Iron Works, General Dynamics Mission Systems. Applied Physical Science, General Dynamics Information Technology and NIWC San Diego.
Job Duties and Responsibilities including though not limited to:
- Utilize SolidWorks to create designs, shop drawing, BOM and specifications.
- Work with and supervise production staff to fabricate, modify and test prototypes.
- Coordinate transition to manufacturing developed products to include the development of manufacturing plans and job instructions
- Write Job Instructions and work closely with shop personnel daily to monitor job hour performance milestones and deadlines
- CNC programming machine set-up using Mastercam, EnRoute, FlowJet, and WINMPM CNC programming as required
- Assist with or prepare quotations, bids and proposals
- Provide customer service and engineering sales support
Skills/Requirements, etc.
· Project management experience, including experience supervising production personnel is
· Good communication skills both oral and written
· Experience teaching, training, and mentoring
· Strong mechanical aptitude, computer skills, problem solving and technical writing skills.
· Proficiency in 3-D Modeling Preferably SolidWorks.
· Mastercam or other CNC programming experience
· Knowledge and interest in metal and composites fabrication and the ability to select or specify fabrication methods and procedures, tooling and fixtures.
· Must be a team player with a positive attitude with good time management and organizational skills.
· Mechanical, Mechatronic, Marine, Ocean, Civil/Structural Engineering Bachelor’s Degree . Candidates with relevant industry experience in lieu of a college degree will be considered and encouraged to apply.
