Design Engineer (Water Treatment Systems) – Peterborough

I am recruiting on behalf of a leading international engineering organisation that delivers advanced water-treatment technologies to a wide range of industrial clients. With a global footprint and a strong culture of innovation, the business offers excellent career development and the opportunity to contribute to environmentally impactful engineering solutions.



Due to continued growth, the organisation is seeking a Design Engineer to join its Peterborough facility, which designs, builds, and supports mobile water-treatment systems used across multiple global sites.



The Role



As a Design Engineer, you will play a key part in supporting both local and global engineering projects. You will work closely with the design, manufacturing, and project teams to deliver high-quality, efficient, and customer-focused design solutions.



Key Responsibilities



Develop 3D model designs using SolidWorks or AutoCAD, producing detailed fabrication drawings and review packs.



Support the design and engineering of mobile asset water-treatment systems for build and upgrade projects.



Work collaboratively with the design team to develop and refine concepts.



Select materials and equipment in line with specifications and certifications.



Manage customer deliverables for client-facing projects.



Use SAP for material master data, inventory, drawings, and BOM management.



Support EHS, Quality, MOC engineering actions and participate in HAZOPs.



Assist in supplier identification, part selection, and technical review of quotations.



Provide engineering support to manufacturing sites in the UK and internationally.



Offer guidance and training to interns, new starters, and outsourced engineering partners.



Carry out site visits and as-built surveys.



About You



Qualifications & Experience



Degree in Mechanical, Chemical, Industrial, Electrical, or Environmental Engineering (BSc/MEng/MSc).



Experience or industrial placement within the water industry is advantageous.



Proficiency in SAP, AutoCAD, and SolidWorks is preferable.



Curious, solutions-driven mindset with a focus on service-led design.



Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively across global teams.
