Design Engineer | DeWitt, MI

Salary Range: $72,000 - $111,000 depending on experience

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and optimize product designs for manufacturability, cost, and performance.
• Create detailed engineering drawings, specifications, and BOMs using CAD software.
• Perform engineering calculations, simulations, and analyses (e.g., FEA) to validate designs.
• Collaborate with manufacturing, production, and quality teams to ensure design feasibility and resolve issues.
• Select appropriate materials and manufacturing processes for new and existing products.
• Build and test prototypes to validate design concepts and performance requirements.
• Document design changes, test results, and engineering specifications.

Recommended Qualifications

• Proficiency in industry-standard CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, Inventor, Creo).
• Strong understanding of manufacturing processes (e.g., machining, injection molding, sheet metal) and Design for Manufacturability (DFM) principles.
• Solid foundation in mechanical engineering principles, materials science, and stress analysis.
• Proficiency in applying Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) to engineering drawings.
• Experience with prototyping, testing, and validation of mechanical designs.

Bonus Qualifications

• Experience with advanced simulation software (FEA/CFD)
• Hands-on prototyping or fabrication experience
• Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma principles
• Proficiency in a programming or scripting (e.g., Python, SolidWorks API)
