Job Description

ROLE: Design Engineer

\n

LOCATION: Kettering

\n

HOURS OF WORK: Mon-Thurs 8:30am-5pm / Fri 9:30am-5pm

\n

BASIC SALARY: £43,000-£50,000

\n

Company Profile

Our client is seeking a Design Engineer to join their engineering and manufacturing organisation based in Kettering on a permanent basis. They design and build recycling equipment, materials handling systems, and bespoke conveyor machinery for a wide range of industrial customers.

\n

In this Design Engineer role, you will:

\n

\n
• Produce 3D models, layouts, and detailed designs using SolidWorks and AutoCAD.

\n

• Design sheet metal and fabricated components for conveyor systems and special-purpose machinery.

\n

• Create GA drawings, BOMs, and support projects from concept to commissioning.

\n

• Integrate machinery and equipment into efficient plant layouts.

\n

• Work with Sales, Projects, Manufacturing, suppliers, and customers.

\n

• Support continuous improvement across design quality, standards, and cost efficiency.

\n

In order to be successful as a Design Engineer you must:

\n

\n
• Have Design or Project Engineering experience.

\n

• Be proficient in SolidWorks and AutoCAD.

\n

• Have strong sheet metal and fabricated product design experience (essential).

\n

• Experience with conveyors or special-purpose machinery (desirable).

\n

• Good understanding of regulatory and basic electrical principles.

\n

• Strong communication, organisation, and problem-solving skills.

\n

• HNC or equivalent in Mechanical/Manufacturing Engineering.

\n
