POSITION: Design Engineer 2
JOB TYPE: W2 Full Time
24-month ongoing Contract
LOCATION: Mossville, IL
JOB SUMMARY FOR A DESIGN ENGINEER 2:
Seeking a Design Engineer 2 to support Caterpillar’s engineering teams in Mossville, IL.
- Onsite 5 days/week, first shift CST Full Time (7:30am–4:00pm)
- Pay Range: $30–$34/hr
- This is a backfill position with a strong focus on mentoring, checking, and releasing engineering designs.
RESPONSIBILITY FOR A DESIGN ENGINEER 2:
- Assist with DCR services: detailing, checking, and releasing parts and packages.
- Review workflows from design to release to manufacturing.
- They will learn how to check drawings, meet standards and specifications, and participate in special projects like data mining or process improvement.
- Provide coaching and mentoring on engineering applications and best practices (Teamcenter, CREO).
- Perform data reporting for engineering teams; coding skills in SQL or Python and familiarity with Snowflake are a plus.
- Participate in special projects such as data mining and process improvement.
- Support engineering teams across multiple product lines including tracked/wheeled loaders, earthmoving equipment, locomotives, engines, hydraulics, electronics, and software components.
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE FOR A DESIGN ENGINEER 2:
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical, mechanical, or industrial engineering (required).
- 2–4 years of experience (internships count).
- Open to Master’s candidates.
- Experience with data mining, especially with data tables and schemas inside of Snowflake, is highly desirable.
- CAD experience (CREO, NX, or OneChild).
- GD&T knowledge, Engineering Standards and Specifications.
- Experience with harness assemblies, electrical components, wiring, grips, and connectors.
DESIRED EXPERIENCE FOR A DESIGN ENGINEER 2:
- TeamCenter and CREO.
- Manufacturing and/or inspection of parts.
- Experience with data tables and schemas in Snowflake.
- 3D modeling and Creo Electrical.
- Programming skills (SQL, Python).
- Ability to coach and mentor design engineers.
