Design Engineer

Due to continued growth, we are currently looking for a design engineer to join our engineering team in Glasgow. Reporting to a Design Team Leader, you will be responsible for producing temporary works designs for excavation support, propping, formwork and falsework.

The role would suit an engineer with a few years post graduate experience with demonstratable technical experience in structures or geotechnical design and a sound understanding of temporary works. At Mabey Hire, the floor is yours to fulfill your potential and take us forward.

Your responsibilities

You will:

• Prepare temporary works designs for groundworks, formwork & falsework and/or propping and jacking schemes.
• Checking designs and drawing in accordance with BS5975:2019
• Attend client meetings and carry out site visits.
• Review design briefs provided by the sales team through Launchpad and provide feedback if more information is required.
• Managing your own workload
• Contribute to continuous improvement projects as agreed by the Engineering Director.

About you

You will have:

• A HND or degree in civil/structural engineering
• At least 3 years experience designing temporary works
• The ability to work in a fast-paced and changing environment
• Experience of designing Groundworks, Formwork & Falsework or Propping
• Good understanding of CDM 2015
• Experience utilizing AutoCAD 2D and/or REVIT

We would also love it if you have:

• Experience of checking Groundworks, Formwork & Falsework or Propping
• Experience training and mentoring junior members of the team
• Experience working for a supplier or in a commercial environment
• Some experience working on site
