Job Description

Job Title: Design & Development Engineer

Location: High Wycombe

Salary: £30,000 – £40,000 per annum


We are supporting a growing engineering and manufacturing business in High Wycombe who are looking to recruit a Design & Development Engineer with strong SolidWorks experience. This role will suit someone who enjoys both hands-on development and technical design, contributing to the full lifecycle of new and existing products.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Creating high-quality 3D models and engineering drawings using SolidWorks.
  • Supporting the full product development cycle from concept through to production.
  • Improving and updating existing product designs for performance, cost, and manufacturability.
  • Working with cross-functional teams including production, quality, and suppliers.
  • Supporting prototype builds, testing, validation, and reporting.
  • Assisting in solving technical challenges and contributing innovative ideas to product improvements.
  • Producing technical documentation, BOMs, and assembly instructions.


Skills & Experience Required:

  • Strong proficiency in SolidWorks (3D modelling, 2D detailing, assemblies).
  • Degree or HND/HNC in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
  • Experience in a design and development role within manufacturing or engineering.
  • Good understanding of mechanical principles, materials, and manufacturing processes.
  • Ability to work both independently and within a collaborative engineering team.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and documentation abilities.
