Job Summary:
As the Department of Transportation (DOT) Construction Project Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing the successful completion of a variety of construction projects for the Michigan DOT. This specialized role requires a deep understanding of DOT regulations, construction best practices, and the ability to effectively coordinate with multiple stakeholders to ensure the successful delivery of each project.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage project schedules, budgets, and resource allocation to ensure timely and cost-effective project completion
- Liaise with DOT officials, contractors, and other stakeholders to ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and specifications
- Oversee the quality of construction work, including the inspection and approval of materials, equipment, and workmanship
- Identify and mitigate potential risks, implementing appropriate risk management strategies to minimize project disruptions
- Provide regular progress updates and reporting to DOT leadership and other key stakeholders
- Mentor and guide the project team, fostering a collaborative and safety-focused work environment
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field
- 7+ years of experience in construction project management, with a focus on DOT-related projects
- Demonstrated expertise in concrete restoration, construction project management, and DOT regulations
- Excellent communication, problem-solving, and leadership skills
- Proficient in project management software and tools
- PMP certification or equivalent project management certification is
Working Conditions:
This position will require a mix of office and field work, with the potential for exposure to construction equipment, materials, and outdoor elements. A flexible schedule may be necessary to accommodate project demands and site visits.
Compensation and Benefits:
