Summary:
The Defect Engineering Technician I reduces defects caused by contamination through auditing and analysis. Once detected, they implement improvement processes to reduce the defects. They also provide minor administrative support to the team.
Responsibilities:
- Collect and analyze debris samples from production equipment
- Assist in root cause analysis and implementing production equipment and process improvements under guidance from the Defect Engineer
- Audit the production line for contamination control issues and help resolve them
- Manage non-conformities via excel and support and follow-up with production teams to get a resolution
- Work with production and QA teams to address internal and external quality issues related to contamination
- Report audit and project implementation results to part leader
- Manage quality control on all magnets to ensure they are placed properly
- Read dials and meters to determine amperage, voltage, electrical output and input at specific operating temperature to analyze parts performance
- Maintain cleanliness at work-site in accordance with 5S3R Standards:
- Sort, Set in order, Shine, Standardize, Sustain
- Right Location, Right Quantity, Right Container
- Follow LGESMI existing cleaning SOP’s during downtime (e.g. line stop, waiting time, etc.), which includes cleaning your designated machine and/or surrounding work area
- Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED required
- Vocational Certificate or Associates Degree or equivalent, relevant experience
Experience:
- 1 to 3+ years of related experience
- At least 1 year of 5S implementation experience
- Experience using specialized tools for analysis (microscope, air flow meter, etc.)
