At 7:00 AM in Zachary, you’ll clock in, grab the day’s repair orders from the service advisor, and get to work diagnosing and repairing passenger vehicles and light trucks for a trusted local dealership. By mid-morning you might be tackling a brake inspection, an oil service, or tracking down an intermittent electrical fault with modern diagnostic equipment. You’ll document your work, communicate clearly with advisors, and keep your bay organized. Every third Saturday is a half-day focused on quick-turn maintenance and safety checks.

The opportunity

Express Employment Professionals, a full-service staffing agency, is hiring Service Mechanics for a local car dealership in Zachary. We’re looking for hard-working technicians with a customer satisfaction mindset. This is a full-time position with various skill levels welcome—pay rate depends on experience, and training is available.

What you’ll do

  • Diagnose drivability, electrical, and mechanical concerns using advanced scan tools and test equipment.
  • Complete routine services: oil and filter changes, tire rotations, brake inspections, and scheduled maintenance.
  • Inspect vehicles for safety and compliance with manufacturer standards.
  • Partner with service advisors to explain needed repairs and maintenance to customers in plain .
  • Accurately record labor, parts, and findings on each repair order.
  • Stay current on new vehicle technologies and dealership procedures.
  • Follow safety protocols to maintain a clean, hazard-free workspace.
  • Support and mentor junior technicians as needed.
  • Help with shop upkeep: taking out trash, cleaning, stocking, and handling supplies.

What you bring

  • High school diploma or equivalent; ASE certifications (not required).
  • Experience as an automotive technician/mechanic —but not required. Training available.
  • Working knowledge of engines, transmissions, and electrical systems.
  • Comfort with diagnostic tools and equipment.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills, attention to detail, and a customer-first attitude.
  • Clear communication skills.
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
  • Ownership of common hand tools necessary for the job.
