Data Scientist- £500PD - Hybrid

You will play a key role in developing innovative AI and data-driven solutions to solve critical business problems within the insurance domain. Working at the intersection of technology, underwriting, and product development, you will ensure that your work delivers tangible business value and supports the vision for a more digital and intelligent insurance offering.

Specifically, you will:

Build solutions leveraging data science and AI to address complex business challenges.
\n

Collaborate closely with underwriters, product managers, and cross-functional teams to align solutions with business objectives.
\n

Contribute to the creation of a digital high-net-worth insurance offering and/or the development of a portfolio analysis tool.
\n

\nKey Responsibilities\n

Participate in all phases of the software development lifecycle (SDLC) across multiple projects.
\n
- \n
Design and document technical solutions in alignment with the Hiscox Change Delivery Framework.
\n
- \n
Ensure compliance with design, coding, testing, and software engineering best practices.
\n
- \n
Work collaboratively with QA and UAT teams to investigate and resolve defects.
\n
- \n
Support code deployment and release activities across environments.
\n
- \n
Regularly report progress, risks, and issues to technical leads and project stakeholders.
\n
- \n
Troubleshoot and resolve production issues and ensure smooth day-to-day process operations.
\n
- \n
Pursue continuous learning and professional development, including relevant certifications.
\n

\nPerson Specification\n
Essential Skills & Experience
\n

Prior exposure to the insurance industry or financial services.
\n
- \n
Strong hands-on experience in data science using Python.
\n
- \n
Proven experience building solutions with generative AI, ideally with Gemini or similar LLM technologies.
\n
- \n
Practical experience with Azure and/or Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
\n
- \n
Ability to read, interpret, and contribute to technical design documents.
\n
- \n
Strong communication skills and ability to work with diverse, cross-functional stakeholders.
\n
- \n
Experience working in Agile delivery environments.
\n
- \n
Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and time management skills.
\n
- \n
Comfortable dealing with ambiguity and adapting to a fast-paced environment.

Education

Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related discipline.
