Position Overview

The Data Pipeline Developer is responsible for designing, developing, testing, and maintaining data pipelines supporting the IRS data platform. This role enables real-time and batch data ingestion, transformation, and loading to support analytics and reporting.

Responsibilities

Create and maintain scalable, secure data pipelines for data platform domains.

Migrate legacy data into modern cloud storage solutions (e.g., Databricks).

Implement semantic layers and data access services.

Perform unit, system, and performance testing on pipeline components.

Support operational maintenance and resolve issues post-deployment.

Qualifications

Experience in at least 2 projects involving Databricks-based pipelines.

Strong understanding of medallion architecture and cloud environments.

Ability to translate business needs into technical solutions.

Proficiency with ETL tools: Databricks, Informatica, Enterprise File Transfer Utility.

Experience with databases: AWS RDS, Redshift, PostgreSQL, MongoDB.

Programming skills in SQL, Python, Spark.

Knowledge of BI tools: Tableau, PowerBI, Business Objects.

Data transformation and integration expertise.

Performance optimization skills.

Security-aware development practices.

Troubleshooting and debugging skills.

Employment Details

Full-time, exempt, salary position. Eligible for paid benefits.

Clearance, Citizenship, and Location

Must have US citizenship and IRS MBI Public Trust clearance.

Location: Washington, DC, with some remote work possible.
