NextStep Recruiting is partnering with a growing enterprise organization to hire a Data Architect to lead the design and governance of the company’s enterprise data environment. This role will be central to shaping modern data architecture across cloud platforms, enabling analytics, reporting, and AI/ML initiatives across multiple business units. The ideal candidate brings strong experience with Databricks Lakehouse patterns and deep familiarity with SAP source data.

Responsibilities

• Define enterprise data architecture standards, including modeling, integration, and governance practices
• Design scalable data models across Bronze, Silver, and Gold layers in a Lakehouse environment using Delta Lake and Unity Catalog
• Lead data modeling and semantic layer development supporting finance, supply chain, operations, and commercial domains
• Collaborate with data engineers to optimize ingestion and transformation pipelines (batch and streaming)
• Implement data governance methods, including data quality, lineage, and access controls
• Work with business and analytics teams to translate use cases into data model requirements
• Provide architectural oversight for data integration tools and performance optimization
• Partner with security and compliance teams to ensure data protection standards for PII/PHI

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field or equivalent experience
• 7+ years of experience in data architecture or data engineering supporting enterprise-scale environments
• Strong hands-on experience with Databricks, Delta Lake, Unity Catalog, and Lakehouse architectures
• Deep knowledge of SAP ERP data models (finance, logistics, materials, etc.)
• Proficiency in SQL and Python, with experience guiding engineering teams
• Expertise in conceptual, logical, and physical data modeling (ER/Studio, Erwin, Lucidchart, dbt, etc.)
• Experience working in Azure, AWS, or GCP environments

Qualifications

• Experience with Fivetran or similar data integration platforms
• Familiarity with SAP BW or S/4HANA CDS views
• Exposure to modern BI platforms (Power BI, Tableau, Looker)
• Understanding of AI/ML data enablement workflows
• Experience applying data mesh principles
