Dam Design Engineer
Austin, Texas

An employee-owned engineering and consulting firm is seeking a Dam Design Engineer with at least five years of relevant experience in dam engineering disciplines such as hydrology, hydraulics, geotechnical, or structural engineering. This role will support the design of new dams and the rehabilitation of existing dams and hydraulic structures.
Responsibilities
Perform engineering analysis and design calculations for new dams, reservoirs, and rehabilitation of existing hydraulic structures
Prepare construction drawings and engineering figures with an emphasis on civil and structural design
Conduct visual inspections of dams and hydraulic structures, including field work and occasional overnight travel
Assist in preparing engineering reports and technical specifications
Support training and mentoring of junior engineers
Collaborate with team members across multiple offices to balance project workloads
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related discipline from an ABET-accredited program
Minimum five years of relevant design experience in hydrologic and hydraulic analyses, geotechnical, or structural engineering with a focus on dams
Professional Engineer (PE) license in at least one state and ability to obtain Texas reciprocity
Experience with analysis and modeling software used in dam engineering
Proficiency with drafting and visualization tools such as AutoCAD Civil 3D, Revit, GIS/ArcMap, or similar
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Willingness to perform field work and travel as needed
Ability to work on construction sites and in outdoor conditions
