Position Overview:
The Cyberspace Exercise Planner (Key Personnel) provides expert-level support for planning, coordinating, and integrating cyberspace operations into DoD and Defense Logistics Agency (DLA) exercises. This position requires in-depth mission analysis, mastery of cyber terrain concepts, and the ability to apply the Joint Operational Planning Process (JOPP) to develop, execute, and evaluate cyber-related exercise activities. The planner ensures that cyberspace capabilities are effectively aligned with exercise objectives, integrates cyber effects into training scenarios, and assesses personnel readiness against established criteria.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in the coordination and execution of cyberspace planning and exercise activities, integrating DoD, DLA, and stakeholder cyber exercise requirements.
- Conduct mission analysis to identify specified, implied, and essential tasks supported by cyberspace operations.
- Apply the Joint Operational Planning Process (JOPP) to support exercise planning from a J6 and cyberspace perspective.
- Develop and coordinate exercise training objectives in collaboration with leadership and stakeholders.
- Build and manage the Master Scenario Events List (MSEL) for exercises, ensuring accurate entry into applicable CJCS, COCOM, DLA, and other stakeholder databases.
- Design, plan, and integrate cyber effects into exercises to meet command training objectives.
- Observe and evaluate personnel performance during exercises, assessing readiness against training objectives.
- Provide post-exercise assessments, lessons learned, and recommendations for follow-on actions.
- Support communications, cyberspace, and exercise planning functions using government-provided automated software tools in accordance with assigned deadlines and processes.
Minimum Requirements:
- Certifications:
- DoD 8570 IAT Level III baseline certification (e.g., CASP+ CE, CCNP Security, CISA, CISSP, GCED, GCIH).
- Experience:
- Five (5) years of relevant IT and/or Cybersecurity experience.
- Proven experience with and understanding of DLA’s cyber terrain.
- Skills & Knowledge:
- Strong understanding of DoD and DLA cyber operations and integration into joint exercises.
- Proficiency in the development and management of Master Scenario Events Lists (MSELs).
- Knowledge of the Joint Operational Planning Process (JOPP) and its application in exercise planning.
- Strong analytical, planning, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with multiple stakeholders across commands and agencies.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills for exercise documentation, reporting, and briefings.
Attributes:
- Experience supporting CJCS- or COCOM-level exercises.
- Familiarity with USCYBERCOM exercise integration processes.
- Background in cyber mission assurance and operational risk management.
- Experience with readiness assessment and evaluation methodologies.

- Hold an active Top Secret clearance
