About the Role:
The Custodian/Maintenance position at Victory Autism Academy GCU (VAAGC) is essential for ensuring a clean, safe, and well-maintained environment that supports the educational and developmental needs of our students. This role involves performing routine cleaning duties, maintaining building systems, and addressing repair needs promptly to uphold facility standards. The successful candidate will contribute to creating a welcoming atmosphere by managing custodial tasks efficiently while also supporting maintenance operations to prevent disruptions. Attention to detail and proactive problem-solving are critical to maintaining the integrity and safety of the academy’s physical environment. Ultimately, this position plays a vital role in fostering a positive and healthy learning space for students, staff, and visitors alike.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Previous experience in custodial or maintenance work, preferably in an educational or institutional setting.
- Basic knowledge of cleaning chemicals, supplies, and equipment operation.
- Ability to perform physical tasks including lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods.
- Strong commitment to safety protocols and attention to detail.
Qualifications:
- Certification or training in facility maintenance or custodial services.
- Experience with minor electrical, plumbing, or HVAC repairs.
- Familiarity with safety regulations and compliance standards relevant to educational facilities.
- Ability to operate maintenance tools and machinery safely and effectively.
- Previous experience working in environments serving individuals with special needs.
Responsibilities:
- Perform daily cleaning tasks including sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, dusting, and sanitizing classrooms, hallways, restrooms, and common areas.
- Conduct routine inspections of the facility to identify maintenance needs and safety hazards, reporting or addressing issues as appropriate.
- Carry out minor repairs such as fixing leaks, replacing light bulbs, repairing furniture, and maintaining HVAC systems to ensure operational efficiency.
- Manage waste disposal and recycling efforts in compliance with environmental and safety regulations.
- Collaborate with school staff to schedule maintenance activities that minimize disruption to educational programs and events.

The required skills enable the custodian/maintenance professional to efficiently manage daily cleaning and upkeep tasks, ensuring the academy remains hygienic and orderly. Attention to detail and organizational skills are used to identify maintenance issues early and prioritize repairs to prevent facility downtime.
