Critical Services Engineer - King's Cross Estate\n\nLocation\n\nKing's Cross, London\n\nEmployment Type\n\nPermanent | Full Time\n\nAbout the Role\n\nWe are looking for an experienced Critical Services Engineer to join our team supporting the prestigious King's Cross Estate.\n\nThis is a highly visible technical leadership role responsible for engineering governance, operational assurance, technical escalation support, quality assurance, and ownership of engineering standards across a complex critical environment.\n\nYou will act as a subject matter expert across critical infrastructure, driving reliability, engineering excellence, and continuous improvement across the estate.\n\nKey Responsibilities\n\nEngineering Leadership & Technical Authority\n\nAct as estate-wide Subject Matter Expert (SME) for critical engineering systems\n\nProvide technical leadership across:\n\nHV/LV systems\n\nGenerators\n\nUPS\n\nCooling infrastructure\n\nBMS\n\nFire systems\n\nWater systems\n\nLead root cause analysis and technical investigations\n\nTechnical Triage & Incident Management\n\nManage technical triage for critical incidents and system failures\n\nSupport emergency response and fault diagnosis\n\nProduce technical reports and recommendations\n\nEngineering Compliance & Quality Assurance\n\nCarry out engineering audits and quality inspections\n\nReview MOPs, SOPs, RAMS, switching schedules and maintenance procedures\n\nEnsure compliance with statutory and client engineering standards\n\nEngineering Standards & Governance\n\nDevelop and maintain engineering procedures, policies and standards\n\nDrive consistency and engineering best practice\n\nMaintain document control and governance frameworks\n\nTraining & Development\n\nSupport and develop engineering competency frameworks\n\nDeliver technical mentoring and workshops\n\nSupport Authorised Person development and competency assessments\n\nReliability & Continuous Improvement\n\nAnalyse asset performance and maintenance trends\n\nDrive reliability and lifecycle improvement initiatives\n\nProjects & Technical Support\n\nProvide technical oversight across engineering projects\n\nReview designs, commissioning activities and project handovers\n\nHealth & Safety\n\nEnsure compliance with legislation and engineering standards\n\nSupport risk assessments and incident investigations\n\nWhat We're Looking For\n\nQualifications & Experience\n\nDegree or HND in Engineering / Building Services ( but not essential)\n\nStrong experience within critical environments\n\nBackground in engineering governance and technical leadership\n\nExperience developing engineering standards and procedures\n\nQA/QS auditing experience\n\nStrong stakeholder management capability\n\nCore Competencies\n\nTechnical Excellence\n\nEngineering Governance\n\nLeadership\n\nQuality Assurance\n\nRisk Management\n\nContinuous Improvement\n\nOperational Resilience\n\nStakeholder Management\n\nSuccess Measures\n\nPerformance in this role will be measured through:\n\nCritical system uptime\n\nAudit compliance\n\nDefect closure rates\n\nTraining completion\n\nReduction in repeat failures\n\nClient satisfaction\n\nIf you're looking to take ownership of engineering excellence within a flagship critical environment, we'd love to hear from you. #BGISUK
