Survey Crew Chief
MUST HAVE LAND SURVEYING EXPERIENCE
Wage: $26-$36 per hour depending on experience
Full time position: 40 hours per week
FLSA: Non-Exempt
Working Hours
Monday-Friday 7:00 am – 3:30 pm Occasional Overtime
Occasional Saturdays on an as needed basis
Reports to Survey Manager
Essential Functions:
- Ability to perform physical labor (i.e., strenuous walking, and lifting catch basin grates/manhole covers, hauling equipment) and physically maneuver around construction sites, including accessing excavations, trenches, structures, and other disturbed areas; Capable of lifting and carrying 50 pounds
Qualifications:
- Valid Driver’s License
- High School Diploma or Equivalent Required
- 1-5 years experience required being employed in a civil engineering / surveying office
- 1-5+ years experience performing boundary research and ability to execute field staking
- Expert knowledge of all Survey equipment-GPS and robotic hardware, Leica Scanner, survey programs, and Survey software or comparable 3D Scanning Software
- Skill to read and interpret construction plans
- Ability to calculate, upload, and download points for staking
- Proven work history, strong work ethic, and team-player attitude
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and accuracy
- Field leadership qualities to manage crews and represent company on jobsites with clients
Responsibilities:
- Maintain accountability for the actions and productivity of field crew as well as the operation and maintenance of survey equipment
- Work directly with the Survey Manager and Licensed Surveyor in development of proposals and coordinate with clients on existing projects
- Assist Survey Manager in managing field crew members
- Ability to work independently, be self-motivated, and have good organizational and communication skills and the ability to work directly with clients
- Read and comprehend construction drawings
- Calculate construction layouts
- Work directly with design engineers, clients, safety officers, and the public.
- Plan and execute an efficient scanning/survey workflow
- Comply with all Construction Site OSHA rules
- Participate in required company training programs
