Position Summary
We’re looking for a Skilled Crane Mechanic to keep our cranes and heavy equipment operating at peak performance. You’ll handle inspections, repairs, and maintenance on electric, diesel, and gasoline-powered cranes both in our Syracuse shop and out in the field. If you take pride in precision, problem-solving, and working with your hands, this is a role where your skills truly matter.
Key Responsibilities
- Inspect, diagnose, and repair gasoline and diesel crane engines, hydraulic systems, and electrical components.
- Perform preventative maintenance on cranes, hoists, and heavy equipment.
- Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, manuals, and service instructions.
- Assist with crane assembly and setup at job sites.
- Respond to equipment breakdowns or emergency service calls to minimize downtime.
- Maintain accurate service and repair records in line with company and regulatory standards.
- Collaborate with supervisors and team members to troubleshoot and resolve mechanical issues.
- Adhere to OSHA, DOT, and company safety regulations at all times
Requirements:
- Knowledge of diesel and gasoline engines, hydraulics, and electrical systems.
- Ability to use diagnostic equipment, hand tools, and repair techniques safely and effectively.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- High school diploma or GED, plus related experience/training.
- Regular attendance is required
:
- 2–5 years of experience in heavy equipment or crane repair.
- CDL license, OSHA 10/30, or Crane Inspector certification.
- Experience with computerized diagnostic systems.
Physical Requirements:
This is a hands-on role that requires strength, mobility, and endurance. You’ll work indoors and outdoors in all conditions, frequently standing, climbing, kneeling, and using tools weighing 10–20 lbs. Proper PPE (steel-toed boots, hard hat, safety glasses, etc.) is required.
