SUMMARY

The Cost & Inventory Manager is responsible for collaborating with leadership and Finance staff within the company to provide support for the establishment of goals and budgets.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

Essential:

  • Analyze monthly financial results of the company and determine/explain material variances of actuals vs budget, vs prior month or vs prior year’s result. Propose adjustments as needed.
  • Develop accurate & timely financial trend analysis showing the company’s KPIs (Key Performance Indicators) to facilitate management decisions.
  • Responsible for monitoring inventory control activities including but not limited to reconciling physical vs perpetual records, cycle counts, material transfers, determining excess, obsolete & scrap materials, validating the various inventory balances (raw materials, work in process (WIP) and finished goods) as well as the cost of goods sold.
  • Participate in month-end process and post all adjustments related to inventory; prepare reconciliation workpapers for each inventory balance sheet account.
  • Responsible in maintaining standard cost (materials & labor) updates as needed.
  • Assist in creating a model to capture actual manufacturing cost (materials, labor & overhead) in order to determine product pricing.
  • Develop automated reporting and forecasting tools for efficient use of data.
  • Take an active role during budget process in preparing data to be used as basis for department heads to create their annual budgets.
  • Serve as liaison to other departments ensuring the timely completion of budget & communicate any questions or feedback from higher management.
  • Provide auditors (internal/external) schedules & explanations as needed for any inquiries related to inventory or manufacturing cost.
  • Work closely with finance accounting team providing feedback on proper treatment/posting of overhead expenses.
  • Coordinate with manufacturing & materials management team to ensure proper procedures are established to account for inventory movements & assist them to be audit ready.
  • Supervision of accounting staff

Supplementary Responsibilities:

  • Assist with the Board and shareholder meetings materials preparation.
  • Execute ad-hoc reports or projects as requested by Controller.
  • Performs other related duties or projects as business needs require at the direction of management.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

Education and experience:

  • BS Degree in Accounting, Finance or Economics.
  • Minimum 5 years cost accounting/financial analysis experience required.
  • Pharmaceutical Manufacturing experience .

Knowledge, skills, and abilities:

  • Strong understanding of accounting theories and/or US GAAP/IFRS.
  • Detail oriented, highly organized and self-starter who sets and achieves aggressive goals.
  • Ability to meet deadlines with a sense of urgency.
  • Adapts to new situations & work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Demonstrates analytical thinking and problem-solving ability.
  • Excellent written & verbal communication skills.
  • Experience with the pharmaceutical industry or other life science businesses .
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and computer skills.
  • Experienced in ERP and financial systems.

  • This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, and filing cabinets.

  • Specific vision requirements include close, distance or vision as well as depth perception & ability to adjust focus.
  • On occasion, employees may be asked to work on weekends or nights or on call as needed.
