Overview
Energy Jobline is supporting a major international energy infrastructure programme and is seeking an experienced Cost Control Engineer to support financial monitoring and cost management across a large-scale project.
The role will focus on tracking project expenditures, forecasting financial performance, and ensuring project delivery remains aligned with approved budgets and contractual requirements.
The Role
Reporting to the Project Services Manager, the Cost Control Engineer will support project leadership by providing detailed cost analysis, forecasting, and financial reporting throughout the project lifecycle.
Working closely with project controls, planning, procurement, and engineering teams, the role ensures accurate cost tracking and supports decision-making through reliable financial insights.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain the project cost control framework aligned with the Project Execution Plan
- Establish and manage Cost Breakdown Structures (CBS) and Work Breakdown Structures (WBS) for project cost tracking
- Support preparation of project budgets and allocation of costs across disciplines and subcontractors
- Monitor actual expenditures against approved budgets and contractual commitments
- Analyze cost trends and identify potential cost overruns or financial risks
- Ensure accurate cost coding and financial tracking within project financial systems
- Monitor vendor and subcontractor costs to ensure compliance with contract terms
- Prepare monthly cost reports including actuals, commitments, forecasts, and variance analysis
- Provide Estimate at Completion (EAC) and Estimate to Complete (ETC) forecasts
- Support evaluation of cost impacts related to project variations and change orders
- Maintain records of approved and pending cost variations and financial risks
- Support project management with cost performance data for project review meetings
Skills & Experience
- Strong experience in project cost control and financial reporting within large engineering or infrastructure projects
- Ability to perform detailed cost analysis, forecasting, and variance evaluation
- Familiarity with cost management systems and ERP platforms
- Understanding of project execution environments including fabrication, procurement, and offshore installation activities
- Strong analytical, reporting, and problem-solving capabilities
- Effective communication and cross-functional coordination skills
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited university
- Minimum 8 years’ experience in project cost control or project controls within energy or infrastructure projects
- Experience supporting projects involving fabrication, procurement, logistics, and offshore operations
- Excellent written and spoken English communication skills

The advertised day rate applies to independent consultants operating on a contract basis. Candidates who prefer to be engaged as employees of the client may be offered a different remuneration structure.
