ROLE & RESPONSIBILITIES

We are seeking to contract with a Core Thermal Hydraulics Software Engineer to support the development of reactor core software for the sodium-cooled Natrium Reactor program. This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated individual to work on advanced energy systems in the nuclear industry. As part of the Thermal Hydraulics team, you will be responsible for maturing software that performs thermal-hydraulics analyses for reactor behavior under various conditions.

Software Development: Build, test, and verify computational software for core thermal hydraulics of the Natrium demonstration reactor.

Collaboration: Work with multi-disciplinary software development teams, participate in the software development lifecycle, and support QA processes.

Code Reviews & Documentation: Provide feedback during code reviews and prepare reports to document findings, ensuring high-quality, maintainable code.

Software Quality Assurance (SQA): Collaborate with QA teams to ensure that code meets quality and acceptance criteria, particularly in a NQA-1 environment.

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS

B.S., M.S., or Ph.D. in Mechanical, Nuclear, Computer Science, or a related Engineering discipline

5+ years of experience in the nuclear or relevant industry with a B.S., or 3+ years with an M.S. or Ph.D.

Proficiency in Python programming, with preference for candidates also skilled in C++

Familiarity with Nuclear Quality Assurance (NQA-1) standards and Software Quality Assurance (SQA) programs

Experience with nuclear reactor subchannel or systems codes (e.g., RELAP5-3D, TRACE, COBRA, SLTHEN, SABRE4)

Excellent communication skills, especially for formal documentation

BONUS QUALIFICATIONS

Knowledge of liquid metal thermal-hydraulics

Experience in software development for nuclear reactors or advanced energy systems
