Controls Technician

Position Summary: As a Controls Technician, you will be responsible for installing, calibrating, programming, and maintaining various control systems, including PLCs, HMIs, VFDs, and related instrumentation. You will support projects from startup to commissioning and work closely with engineers, electricians, and clients to ensure systems operate safely and efficiently.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Install, wire, and commission control panels, PLCs, HMIs, sensors, and VFDs

  • Troubleshoot and repair electrical and control system issues in field environments

  • Perform system testing and calibration for instrumentation and control loops

  • Assist with control system programming and modifications

  • Read and interpret electrical schematics, P&IDs, and wiring diagrams

  • Work collaboratively with engineers and project managers on new and retrofit installations

  • Maintain documentation and service logs for completed work

  • Follow all safety protocols and site-specific procedures

Qualifications:

  • 2+ years of hands-on experience in industrial controls or automation systems

  • Proficiency with PLCs (Allen-Bradley, Siemens, etc.) and HMIs

  • Experience with VFDs, motor controls, and instrumentation

  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and wiring diagrams

  • Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills

  • Working knowledge of NEC, NFPA 70E, and general electrical safety practices

  • Associate degree in Electrical Technology, Automation, or related field

  • Willingness to travel to job sites as needed (some overnight travel may be required)
