Controls Estimating Engineer

The Controls Estimating Engineer is responsible for designing solutions and accurately estimating costs for projects as part of the sales process. This engineer will have a wide range of experience and a strong understanding of how control systems are put together.
Responsibilities:
- Work with the customer to define the needs of the project and a path forward to solving their problems with the most competitive and effective solution.
- Maintain positive relationships with our customers.
- Collaborate with the Rhino Tool House Sales and Operations teams as well as vendors as needed to pull together the best solution possible.
- Read / comprehend project / customer specifications.
- Utilize tools such as Autocad, EPlan, Powerpoint, Visio, etc. to build content use to present solutions to our customers.
- Define components needed to complete a project.
- Work with vendors and our purchasing department to obtain the best vendor pricing possible.
- Estimate labor hours required to complete a project. Develop accurate project budgets.
- Visit customer sites for measurements and observe existing conditions needed to complete a proposal.
- As part of the Sales team, the Controls Estimating Engineer will present solutions to customers.
- This engineer will constantly be seeking to learn about new technologies coming to our marketplace so we can offer unique and creative solutions to our customers.
Reports to: Estimating Manager
Required Qualifications:
- 4yr. Degree in EE, EET, Mechatronics, or equivalent experience in similar role.
- 4+ years of experience in controls engineering, estimation, project management, or design of industrial automation systems.
- Experience with PLCs / HMIs / Robots.
- Proficient in AutoCAD and/or EPlan.
- Familiar with NEC/ANSI/UL electrical standards.
- Understanding of industrial safety circuit design.
- Candidate must be self-motivated with a desire to learn.
A working knowledge of Microsoft Office products such as MSWord, Excel, and PowerPoint. Ability to create spreadsheets using formulas and links.
