Lead the Future of Automation: Drive Innovation and Operational Excellence in Renewable Energy Manufacturing.
Primestaff Services is partnering with a global provider of solar energy solutions in their search for a Controls Engineering Manager to lead automation initiatives and provide operational support for their newest advanced manufacturing site to be located in Gaffney, SC. This role is critical in managing and optimizing controls systems to ensure seamless production in a dynamic, innovation-driven environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee daily operations of the controls support organization, managing MES Controls Engineers and Supervisors.
- Provide technical leadership and professional development for direct and indirect reports.
- Drive alignment and deliver automation solutions across data systems, shop floor processes, and manufacturing software.
- Ensure timely resolution of automation issues, implement proactive measures to minimize downtime, and meet KPI targets.
- Manage projects involving new equipment installations, upgrades, and vendor coordination.
- Prioritize multiple projects while building and developing a high-performing team.
Essential Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s in Electrical/Electronics, Instrumentation & Controls, or Mechatronics.
- 8+ years in manufacturing equipment controls engineering with 3–6 years in leadership or 2+ years in management roles.
- PLC programming (Allen-Bradley, Siemens), HMI/SCADA systems, robotics, motion controls, industrial networks (Ethernet/IP, Profibus, ModBus), and vision systems.
- Strong knowledge of automation architecture, MES integration, and database systems (SQL Server).
- Lean Six Sigma, FMEA, TOC, AGV systems, Digital Twin concepts, AI in manufacturing.
- Proven ability to lead teams, manage projects, and communicate effectively across technical and non-technical audiences.
