Summary:

Oilgear designs and manufactures a wide variety of custom products and full turnkey electro-hydraulic solutions in various fields such as metal working, energy, and mobile applications. As a Controls Engineer you will work on custom controls projects from the initial design phase, to in-house PLC software development, through commissioning and final acceptance at our customer’s sites.

Essential Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Develop industrial PLC control solutions to meet customer-specified requirements
  • Select suitable system hardware such as PLCs, HMIs, and other industrial electronics
  • PLC programming using primarily Rockwell Automation platforms (knowledge of other PLC platforms such as Siemens or Beckhoff is a plus)
  • Develop operator HMI screens for customer specific requirements (FactoryTalk View ME and SE)
  • Utilize control network technology such as Rockwell EtherNet I/P, Siemens Profinet, Ethernet and client-server database connectivity
  • Design project specific control panels, A.C. and D.C. power distribution for control systems (480VAC, 120VAC, 24VDC circuits...), operator control desk lay-out, and wiring schematics.
  • Regular reporting on assigned projects (execution progress, planning, cost and profitability…)
  • Perform in-house platform tests
  • Commissioning of control systems at customer sites

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering (BSEE) or a related engineering discipline from an accredited institution is required.
  • 5+ years of working experience in an industrial field.
  • Previous commissioning experience .
  • Extensive experience programming with Rockwell Automation software.
  • Knowledge of I/O networks (ControlNet, Ethernet I/P, etc.).
  • Knowledge of hydrauic systems is helpful but not required.
  • Knowledge of Autocad Electrical is helpful, but not required.
  • Functional Safety and Safety Programming experience desirable.
  • CAD Experience (AutoCAD, Eplan, Solidworks) would be an advantage.
  • Knowledge of electrical controls legislation (NFPA or ULG familiarity).
  • Basic knowledge of industrial standards and codes.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Successful completion of a background check, drug screening, and driving record check.
  • Ability to travel up to 20%

Physical Demands and Working Environment:

  • Some work performed in a non-air-conditioned shop environment.
  • Ability to work in harsh environments, including rain, snow, heat, and with heights.
  • Ability to lift up to 35lbs.
  • Exposure to noise, dust, odors, and fumes in a shop environment.
  • Bending, stooping, sitting, standing, walking, and climbing fixed ladders, staircases, or man lifts to heights greater than 10 feet.

Training Requirements:

  • General safety training.
  • Oilgear safety and compliance training, as well as any additional training required by customers.
  • ISO 9001 and applicable processes and procedures.

Personal Protective Equipment (PPE):

  • Safety glasses.
  • Steel-toe or composite-toe shoes.
  • Gloves, goggles, shields, aprons, etc., as required for specific tasks.
  • Hard hats (mandatory in certain environments, such as forge or steel forming applications).
  • Safety vests.
  • Ear protection.
  • Long sleeve clothing.
  • Cut-resistant gloves.
