Controls Engineer
Location: Rockledge, FL
Schedule: First Shift, Mon-Fri
Compensation: $120,000–$125,000 base salary
Employment Type: Full-time
Position Overview
The Controls Engineer will play a key role in supporting and improving automated manufacturing systems. This position is approximately 70% project-based work (new equipment, upgrades, and improvements) and 30% production support, requiring strong troubleshooting and on-call responsiveness. The ideal candidate has deep PLC programming experience, preferably with Allen-Bradley, and thrives in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, program, and modify PLC control systems
- Lead and support automation projects including new equipment installations, upgrades, and process improvements
- Provide production support by troubleshooting controls, electrical, and automation issues to minimize downtime
- Develop and maintain HMIs and interface with operators and maintenance teams
- Support integration of robotic systems and automated equipment (robotics experience is a plus)
- Participate in system testing, commissioning, and validation
- Maintain accurate documentation including electrical schematics, PLC programs, and project records
- Support on-call rotation for urgent production or system issues as needed
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Controls Engineering, or related technical field
- Strong hands-on PLC programming experience
- Experience with Allen-Bradley PLCs
- Experience supporting manufacturing or industrial automation systems
- Strong troubleshooting skills and ability to support live production environments
Qualifications
- Robotics programming or integration experience
- Experience with HMIs, VFDs, servos, and industrial networks
- Experience working on capital or continuous improvement projects
