Job DescriptionJob DescriptionEssential Duties & Responsibilities
- Make programming changes to automated equipment to improve uptime, improve recovery, reduce scrap, and increase throughput.
- Maintains and improves existing equipment.
- Manages equipment upgrades, new installations, and product changes that impact equipment.
- Manages outside contractors.
- Works well with production supervisors, engineers and technicians responsible for supporting all departments.
- Use AutoCAD Electrical to create/update electrical diagrams.
- Select controls components based on design criteria and generate a bill of materials.
- Program using RS Logix 500, RS Logix 5000, Studio 5000 and Factory Talk View Studio.
- Create or update programs for Fanuc and other robot brands.
- Perform machine power up, debug and programming.
- Troubleshoot electrical wiring and process related issues.
- Meet project budgets and timeline milestones.
- Evaluate machine process problems, determine root cause and execute corrective action plans.
- Troubleshoot robot controllers, ladder logic, electrical control devices, mechanical units, transfer devices and peripheral equipment (such as pneumatics).
QualificationsEducation & Experience
- 4-year Degree in an Electrical Discipline and 5 years’ experience in a highly automated manufacturing environment; or 2-year Degree in an Electrical Discipline and 10 years’ experience in a highly automated manufacturing environment.
Mathematical Skills
- Strong PLC and Computer math skills.
Reasoning & Decision-Making Ability
- Ability to solve practical problems.
- Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
- Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
- Ability to troubleshoot equipment related issues and determine short term and long-term solutions.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
- Electrical Certification in the form of 2- or 4-year degree in Electrical Discipline, Electrician License or Electrical Technician Certification.

Environmental & Physical Demands
- Duties are split between an office environment and the manufacturing floor, with frequent exposure to unpleasant or harsh conditions.
- Duties require sitting at a computer workstation for extended periods of time.
- Occupational noise exposure is high during performance of some required duties. Adequate hearing protection is provided and required at key locations.
- Occupational exposure to fumes and dust is encountered during performance of some required duties. Personal Protective Equipment including safety glasses and steel-toed, industrial footwear is required at key locations.
- Employees are occasionally required to stand and walk for extended periods of time.
- Employees are occasionally required to lift and/or move up to 25 lbs.
