Apollo Technical has an immediate need for a Controls Programmer focused on PLC and HMI development for an industrial automation group in Houston, TX

Position Overview:

This is a pure programming and logic-focused role. You will not be responsible for high-level project management or multi-discipline system design. Your primary focus is writing, testing, and troubleshooting code—specifically using Red Lion controls—to ensure pumps, motors, and sensors operate exactly as intended. We are looking for a "plug-and-play" programmer who enjoys the technical challenges of coding and hits the ground running.

Key Responsibilities:

  • PLC/HMI Programming: Write and implement code specifically for Red Lion control systems and HMIs.
  • Logic Development: Utilize Structured Text (ST) to develop robust, fail-safe logic for industrial equipment.
  • Testing: Perform direct hardware-in-the-loop testing to verify code and minimize software rework.
  • Protocol Integration: Configure and troubleshoot industrial networks (Modbus TCP, Ethernet/IP, RS-232/485).
  • Troubleshooting: Provide direct support for code-related equipment failures in the shop or field.

Required Qualifications:

  • Programming Focus: You must be a "programmer first." The ideal candidate sees the logic/coding as the most important part of the job.
  • Red Lion Experience: Direct experience programming Red Lion hardware is highly , but NOT a requirement for this role
  • Structured Text: Strong proficiency in Structured Text (ST) is required.
  • Industrial Protocols: Working knowledge of Modbus and Ethernet/IP.
  • Mindset: Enthusiastic, self-motivated, and ready to focus 100% on the programming aspects of the product.

Additional Information:

  • Position Type: Full-Time / Direct Hire.
  • Travel: Up to 20% for field support and deployment.
