Controls Engineer – Automated Machinery\n\nGloucester, UK\n\nSalary Experience Dependent\n\nEvery other Friday Off\n\nWe are recruiting for a leading designer and manufacturer of special purpose automated machinery. Due to continued growth, we are seeking an experienced Controls Engineer to join our team in Gloucester.\n\nKey Responsibilities – Controls Engineer \n\nDevelop and support PLC, HMI, and Motion Control systems for bespoke automated machinery\nProgram and modify software using Rockwell Logix platform (Studio 5000, FTView ME, Kinetix motion control, Safety PLC)\nConfigure networked control systems with distributed I/O\nProgram and integrate vision systems (Cognex or similar) for inspection and measurement\nProvide controls support during prototype builds, new machine commissioning, and field service on existing equipment\nEnsure machine safety compliance with relevant international standards\nProduce supporting documentation for manufacturing, testing, and customer packages\nDeliver customer support, including on-site commissioning and troubleshooting\nIdentify opportunities for process, productivity, and quality improvements\nParticipate actively in product development and continuous improvement activities\nExperience/Qualifications – Controls Engineer\n\nHNC/HND or equivalent in a software/controls-related discipline\nProven experience in PLC, HMI, and motion control programming – strong Rockwell Logix experience essential\nKnowledge of Siemens TIA Portal advantageous\nExperience with robotic applications (Yaskawa ) desirable\nVision systems experience (Cognex or similar) advantageous\nExcellent written and verbal communication skills\nSelf-motivated, enthusiastic, and able to work effectively in culturally diverse environments\nPositive, supportive approach to technical problem-solving\nFlexible and receptive to change\nWilling and able to travel internationally (typically 4–5 trips per year, each 2–3 weeks duration)\nBenefits – Controls Engineer\n\nCompetitive salary (dependent on experience)\nEvery other Friday off – enjoy a 9-day fortnight\nGenerous company pension contribution (up to 10% total):\n25 days annual leave + 8 bank holidays (up to 3 days reserved for Christmas shutdown)\nLong service awards\nPrivate Medical Insurance available for all employees\nGroup Life Assurance – up to 5× salary\nGroup Income Protection – up to 2/3 basic salary (after probation)\nCompany sick pay – up to 6 weeks full pay (after probation)\nCycle to Work scheme\nRole will be suitable for: Controls Engineers, Electrical Engineers, PLC Programmers & Similar\n\nFor more information on this role, please contact Andrew Haddon on (phone number removed) or send a copy of your CV to (url removed)\n\nFor details of other opportunities available within your chosen field please visit our website (url removed)\n\nOmega is an employment agency specialising in opportunities at all levels within the Engineering, Manufacturing, Aerospace, Automotive, Electronics, Defence, Scientific, Energy & Renewables and Tech sectors
