Controls Engineer
**THIS IS AN ON-SITE POSITION**
The Controls Engineer will support the development of current and new industrial controls systems. This person will be responsible for multiple controls projects to include concept and research; PLC programming; HMI tagging; Component selection; Cost estimating, Device troubleshooting and Sales support. Additionally, the ideal candidate will possess strong skills in industrial control systems and E-CAD software.
Responsibilities
- Design, Develop and implement Siemens PLC/HMI designs for irradiation control systems using TIA Portal, SIMATIC WinCC and Step 7.
- Design electrical/control-wiring schematics in SolidWorks Electrical or other E-CAD tools.
- Create interface to High Voltage Power Supplies, VFDs; Metering Devices; Level, Temperature, Flow, Position, Presence and other common devices.
- Assist in integration, troubleshooting and programming related equipment issues and functional operation
- Ensure that projects meet operating expectations and are completed within authorized budgets and schedule constraints.
- Be available for on-call support after normal working hours when needed.
- Create Functional documentation and troubleshooting guides equipment related to PLC programs.
- Assist in cost and labor estimation for control system projects
- Create PLC training documents.
- Support networking and communication protocols (Ethernet/IP, Modbus, Profibus, etc.)
- Maintain version-controlled documentation for PLC programs and electrical designs
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- To qualify an individual must possess a combination of experience and education that will produce the desired job outcomes. Applicants will be considered based on the following:
- Bachelor’s degree or above in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, or other related degrees
- 5+ years’ experience in PLC programming/electrical design
- Proficient with Siemens TIA Portal, SIMATIC WinCC Comfort and STEP 7 Basic.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel & Words etc.)
- Experience designing electrical schematics in SolidWorks Electrical or other E-CAD tools
- Experience with Simatic S7-1200, SM 1223, SM1231 and HMIs
- Knowledge of industrial control systems and networking protocols
- Experience documenting and maintaining version control for software and electrical design
- Ability to work in a team environment
- Ability to work independently and collaborate in a team environment
