Job Overview:
We are seeking a Controls Engineer to design, program, and deploy automation systems from scratch,
while also optimizing and improving existing production lines. This role is ideal for an engineer who
enjoys owning full systems, solving complex manufacturing challenges, and working in a rapidly evolving
environment.
You will be responsible for PLC architecture, programming, commissioning, and continuous
improvement of high-volume, mass-manufacturing production lines using Siemens PLC platforms.
We expect every engineer to use their talents and expertise to drive our production facilities to a world-
class operation across all metrics through daily continuous improvement and large-scale project design
and execution. With the facility's production capacity and product range continuously expanding, there
will be a constant stream of new and exciting projects to lead.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Design, develop, and implement automation and controls systems from concept to production
Create electrical drawings and assist in executing and overseeing the wiring
Program and commission Siemens PLCs for entire production lines
Define and Improve PLC architecture, I/O structure, networks, and control strategies
Integrate stations, conveyors, sensors, material handling, safety systems, and HMI/SCADA
Lead on-site commissioning, debugging, and startup
Improve uptime, throughput, quality, and reliability
Assist maintenance teams in daily problem solving of production issues
Design and implement SQL databases to collect, store, and analyze process data.
Utilize data analytics to identify performance trends, troubleshoot issues, and improve systems
Integrate PLC with enterprise-level databases and Manufacturing Execution Systems
Maintain and update technical documentation, ladder logic diagrams, and system schematics.
Assist with industrial IoT (IIoT) implementations for smarter manufacturing solutions.
Ensure compliance with safety standards, industry regulations, and cybersecurity best practices.
Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Controls Engineering, or equivalent work experience
5+ years of experience in industrial automation, PLC programming, and troubleshooting.
5+ years of experience working in mass manufacturing
Strong experience with Siemens PLCs (TIA Portal, S7 platforms)
Experience in mass manufacturing or high-volume production
Proven ability to program full production lines
Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
Ability to read and create electrical drawings
Hands on electrical experience wiring control panels, motors, sensors, etc
Work Environment and Physical Demands:
Periods of working on feet and using tools while evaluating manufacturing equipment.
Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds at times.
Visual acuity to read instructions, operate machines, and inspect parts produced.
Ability to wear Personal Protective Equipment as required for safety.
