Position Summary:

This role is expected to maintain the facilities industrial network and controls equipment in a highly automated manufacturing facility. This position will provide leadership and technical expertise in support of the safe and reliable operation of the manufacturing facility and ongoing expansion projects. Primary accountabilities are tied to process control (hardware and software), data acquisition, plant data network, and related issues. Responsibilities will include the development of new controls and troubleshooting of control, instrument, and electrical issues adversely affecting the manufacturing facility. Additionally, this position will help expand existing facility and construct a new green field site in the Burleson, TX area.

Experience with Industrial automation with emphasis on:

  • Allen-Bradley, Beckhoff  Siemens, SICK, and/or SEW PLCs
  • Allen-Bradley, SEW, Yaskawa, and/or Siemens VFDs and servo drives
  • Ignition, Panel View, Siemens, and Red Lion HMIs
  • Point IO and Phoenix Contacts Remote IO.
  • Network protocols: Ethernet/IP, EtherCAT, Flexi Link, and/or IO Link
  • OPC
  • Editing Electrical Drawings in EPlan

Experience with IT system with emphasis on:

  • Database design and administration (MySQL)
  • Python, Jupyter NB, Single Sign On systems
  • VMs, Linux, Wiki administration, Document control
  • Enterprise Resource Management
  • Windows computers setup for office domain

Additional Desired Items

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or Computer Science
  • Background in manufacturing; plastics and/or building materials
  • Six Sigma experience
  • Effective PC skills with MS Word, Excel, Outlook, and engineering discipline specific software
  • Excellent communication skills with technicians, operators, engineers, and managers.
  • Working knowledge of NEC and electrical safety standards

Role & Responsibilities:

  • Key leader in promoting a safe work environment; take responsibility for personal safety, the safety of co-workers, and safety of designs and projects. Perform all work in a safe manner, report all unsafe conditions, work practices, near misses, 1st aids, and work-related injuries so appropriate actions can be promptly initiated.
  • Manage the design and installation of electrical / electronic equipment, including PLCs, power distribution systems, instrumentation, servo motors and drives, and variable frequency drives.
  • Oversee integration between different sections of the manufacturing line to assure all systems are communicating correctly.
  • Investigate and analyze electrical or controls related problems associated with the manufacturing operation. Take expedient action to prevent or correct potential and identified issues.
  • Plan and perform work by applying a thorough knowledge of electrical and mechanical theories and principles, standards and specifications, and local and electrical codes.
  • Develop PLC programs and HMI interfaces; de-bug and optimize existing systems.
  • Maintain awareness of new capabilities and technologies as they relate to controls, drives, processors, and data acquisition systems.
  • Work closely with vendors and design engineers on integration of new equipment.
  • Create and revise documentation detailing troubleshooting of plant control systems
  • Train manufacturing personnel as needed on technical and troubleshooting information; make sure clear training is developed and provided to users of electrical control systems.
  • Contribute towards efforts to optimize employee engagement and ownership.
  • Closely manage confidential information and intellectual property; must have a high degree of integrity and honesty at all times.
  • Must be able to proactively manage priorities and activities that are in alignment with overall business objectives with minimal direction.
  • On call support during off hours is required.

  • Implementing preventative measures or correcting reported situations within department.
  • Wearing designated PPE as required by company policy

 

 

Work Environment:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. The noise level in the work environment and job sites can be loud.

Physical Demands:

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

While much of the work is done on 8-hour weekday shifts mostly in an office, this position will require some 12-hour days on the plant floor where temperatures range from 40 to 105 &degree;F.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
