Overview:
We are seeking a highly skilled Controls Engineer for a first-shift role at a leading manufacturing facility in Fort Wayne, IN. This position involves the design, testing, installation, and modification of operational machinery, electrical control equipment, electrical circuitry, and components. The ideal candidate will work closely with Maintenance, Engineering, Quality, IT, Safety, and Operations to ensure the integrity and performance of equipment and processes.

& Key Responsibilities:

  • Evaluate control systems, products, components, and applications for manufacturing equipment.

  • Research and implement new manufacturing and control technologies into specifications.

  • Design and execute test procedures to confirm control system functionality and safety compliance.

  • Prepare and review electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic controls drawings.

  • Collaborate with engineering teams to assess components, materials, and suppliers.

  • Maintain equipment by performing periodic audits, troubleshooting breakdowns, and defining preventive maintenance plans.

  • Assist maintenance in troubleshooting equipment and provide training to tech teams on new installations.

  • Maintain project documentation using approved methodology, tools, and templates.

  • Troubleshoot, read, and edit PLC logic and CNC programs.

  • Operate Fanuc robots, including recovery and teaching points.

& Must-Have Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in relevant Engineering or technical training equivalent.

  • 2+ years of experience with manufacturing processes and equipment interaction.

  • Ability to interact with machinery through HMI or laptop connection.

  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting mechanical and electrical prints and schematics.

  • Experience with vision systems, Allen Bradley PLCs, Servo Controllers, HMI products, and software.

  • Familiarity with basic electronics and embedded system programming.

  • Hands-on experience with Fanuc robots and PLC logic troubleshooting.

  • Experience:
    • Advanced knowledge of& hydraulic and pneumatic controls.
    • Familiarity with& safety compliance and regulatory standards.
    • Experience with process improvements and equipment upgrades.
