Position Summary: The Controls Engineer contributes technical expertise in the development of new mobile control systems. This person is responsible for supporting the Electronics (“E”) product line and E business operation, and provides development work and software code for E product line projects.
Areas of Accountability:
- Develops customer-specific mobile electronic control systems within required timeframes. Specific functions include
- Defines and specifies electronic components per the customer requirements
- Creates schematics and general layout drawings for customer review and approval
- Develops related software code for all E systems
- Prepares necessary documentation for the customer and JEM associates to ensure proper documentation of all E systems
- Provides technical expertise and sales support as needed in the application of E products
- Confers with customers and JEM associates to confirm the technical functionality of E products and resolves design and documentation complications
- Attends E supplier training sessions as needed.
- Maintains a strong working knowledge of all E products available to JEM Technical.
- Performs assembly of prototype products with other JEM associates as needed.
- Confirms specifications, standards, and changes required to build products.
- Independently meets with customers.
- Supports the engineering department in relation to E systems.
- Assists in customer E system commissioning and project startups. Responds to inquiries after hours as needed.
- Demonstrates leadership and sound judgment when representing JEM Technical and the sales department.
- Confers with JEM associates at all levels of the organization to ensure smooth business operations.
- Focuses on continuous improvement in all areas related to the E product line and business operations. Recommends changes when appropriate.
- Complies with all JEM policies and procedures, including ISO, OSHA, and AWAIR requirements.
- Supports JEM’s vision and mission and exemplifies JEM’s core values daily.
- Maintains regular and predictable attendance.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
Job Qualifications:
- AAS Degree in mechatronics, fluid power, or related discipline is required.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering required.
- 1 to 3 years of industrial and/or mobile control system experience required.
- Knowledge of mobile and industrial electronics, fluid power, hydraulic circuits, and mobile equipment is .
- PLC/HMI software development skills required. CODESYS expertise .
- C++ and QT experience desired.
- Strong troubleshooting, organizational, and documentation skills required.
- Strong interpersonal communication skills required.
- Advanced computer skills required.
- Valid driver’s license, ability to drive independently, and maintain a safe driving record.
- Reliable transportation.
- Requires occasional travel.
