Summary




The Controls and Automation Engineer plays a pivotal role in the design, implementation, and maintenance of automated manufacturing systems within a high-performance industrial environment. This position is central to ensuring operational efficiency, system reliability, and process safety across production lines. The engineer will work closely with cross-functional teams—including operations, maintenance, and engineering—to develop and deploy advanced control systems using PLCs, HMIs, SCADA platforms, and integration with Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES). With a strong foundation in industrial communication protocols such as Ethernet/IP, Modbus, and Profibus, the engineer will ensure seamless data flow and real-time monitoring across the plant floor. The role also emphasizes process safety engineering and compliance with SIL standards, ensuring that all automation systems meet rigorous safety and regulatory requirements. This is a hands-on, technically demanding role ideal for a detail-oriented professional passionate about innovation, continuous improvement, and the convergence of software and industrial hardware in modern manufacturing.

Responsibilities





  • Design, develop, and implement PLC programs utilizing ladder logic and structured text.
  • Configure, program, and troubleshoot HMIs and SCADA systems to provide intuitive, real-time visualization of production processes.
  • Develop and maintain electrical schematics and mechanical drawings to support system integration and troubleshooting.
  • Implement and support industrial communication protocols for seamless device and system interoperability.
  • Integrate automation systems with Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES) to enable data-driven production monitoring and reporting.
  • Conduct system testing, validation, and documentation in alignment with process safety engineering principles and SIL (Safety Integrity Level) requirements.
  • Collaborate with operations and maintenance teams to resolve automation-related issues and improve system uptime and performance.
  • Develop custom scripts, data processing tools, and advanced automation logic where needed.
  • Support commissioning and startup of new equipment and upgrades, ensuring compliance with safety and operational standards.
  • Maintain up-to-date documentation of all control systems, including logic diagrams, I/O lists, and system manuals.

RequirementsRequirements:





  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Automation, Industrial Technology, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 2 years of hands-on experience in industrial automation within a manufacturing environment.
  • Proficiency in Allen-Bradley (Rockwell) PLCs and HMIs; experience with Siemens or other major automation platforms a plus..
  • Demonstrated experience in HMI configuration, design, and programming using platforms such as WinCC, FactoryTalk, or Ignition is a strong plus.
  • Strong understanding of SCADA system architecture and integration with PLCs and MES is a plus.
  • In-depth knowledge of industrial communication protocols: Ethernet/IP, Modbus (RTU/TCP), Profibus.
  • Experience reading and creating electrical schematics and mechanical drawings.
  • Familiarity with process safety engineering concepts and SIL certification standards is a plus.
  • Proficient in Python and/or C/C++ for automation scripting and tool development.
  • Ability to interpret and troubleshoot complex control system issues under time-sensitive conditions.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and documentation skills.
  • Willingness to work in a fast-paced, dynamic manufacturing environment with occasional on-site support requirements.
