An exciting opportunity has come up for a Controls/Automation Engineer to join a forward-thinking and fast-growing engineering firm at the forefront of automated robotics technology. The company specialises in a wide range of automation solutions, powered by software and premium components.
This role offers the chance to be directly involved in the development and commissioning of high-performance automation systems used across diverse industrial environments.
Key Responsibilities:
* Develop and implement automation software, primarily using PLCs and structured text
* Install and commission automated systems on customer sites (approx. 60% travel)
* Integrate software and hardware components for custom automation solutions
* Provide on-site and remote technical support to engineers and clients
* Deliver training sessions to customers on system use and functionality
* Support continuous improvement of systems and internal commissioning processes
Skills & Experience Required:
* PLC programming Experience (Beckhoff, Siemens)
* Experience with IEC (Structured Text desired)
* Experience with robot programming (KUKA or similar platforms)
* Good mechanical and electrical aptitude
* Willingness to travel across the UK and stay away from home when required (expenses + overnight allowance)
* Experience with C++ or C# are beneficial but not essential
Qualifications & Requirements:
* Full UK driving licence
* Electrical training or qualifications (desirable)
* Experience in creating electrical designs for automated machinery (desirable)
