Working within a multidisciplinary engineering team, you will play a key role in designing, developing, and supporting control systems used in highly regulated and technically demanding environments across global markets.This is an excellent opportunity for an engineer who enjoys taking ownership of projects throughout the full controls lifecycle, from concept and system architecture through to implementation, testing, commissioning, and ongoing product improvement.The business operates internationally and supplies innovative solutions to customers across sectors including manufacturing, pharmaceuticals, food and beverage, water treatment, electronics, and other critical process industries.The Role As a Control Systems Engineer, you will be responsible for developing robust and scalable automation solutions that ensure the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of complex equipment and systems.Working closely with electrical, mechanical, software, and applications engineers, you will translate customer and operational requirements into effective PLC, HMI, and automation solutions while supporting testing, commissioning, and continuous product development activities.Key Responsibilities of the Control Systems Engineer: Develop and maintain PLC and HMI software using Allen Bradley platforms and associated technologiesProduce well-structured control software using Ladder Logic, Structured Control (SCL), and Statement List (STL)Support integration with customer SCADA and wider control systemsDeliver controls engineering activities in line with project schedules and milestonesApply recognised engineering standards and best practice methodologiesSupport factory acceptance testing and fault-finding activitiesCollaborate closely with electrical, mechanical, and applications engineering teamsAssist with commissioning and site support activities when requiredDiagnose and resolve complex control system issuesProduce and maintain clear software, testing, and technical documentationContribute to the ongoing development and standardisation of controls software and engineering solutionsWrite Control Philosophies and Functional Design Specifications (FDS)Develop and modify User Defined Function Blocks (UDFBs)About You You will be a practical and solutions-focused controls engineer with strong technical expertise and a proactive approach to problem-solving.Essential Requirements for a Control Systems Engineer: Degree qualified in an engineering discipline or equivalent industry experienceProven experience within a controls engineering role in industrial, process, or manufacturing environmentsStrong PLC and HMI development experience, ideally using Allen Bradley systemsExperience integrating equipment with SCADA systemsKnowledge of industrial communication protocols such as ModbusAbility to read and interpret electrical and control schematicsStrong troubleshooting and fault-finding skillsAbility to work independently and as part of a project teamExcellent organisational and time management skillsHands-on approach with a willingness to support testing, commissioning, and site activities when requiredDesirable Experience Embedded software or firmware development using C or CAutomated testing and test toolingProcess engineeringWorking within multidisciplinary engineering teamsSite commissioning and operational support experienceWhat's on Offer?
