Power Systems International (PSI) has been in business since 1998.  We focus on electric & hydraulic power, drives and systems, lubrication, oil conditioning, and transfer, as well as process control. We design, manufacture, service, and support our equipment in standard and custom products. PSI supports multiple industries, including manufacturing, the military, marine, utilities, and oil and gas.  Many of our projects focus on preserving our natural resources and environment, as well as commercializing innovations. 

PSI has two primary goals: providing excellent customer service and developing high-quality, integrated systems.  This position is integral to both goals.

Summary

We're seeking a skilled Controls Systems Engineer to join our team. In this role, you'll be responsible for the design, development, and implementation of industrial control systems, ensuring they meet project specifications and safety standards. Responsibilities

  • Automation Engineering: Design, program, and commission automation processes.
  • PLC Programming: Programming PLCs, HMIs.
  • Instrumentation & Controls: Use feedback instrumentation and sensors into a control system.
  • Motion Control: Develop and implement motion control solutions using servo and VFD (Variable Frequency Drive) technologies.
  • Process Control: Implement and tune process control loops (e.g., PID controllers) for temperature, pressure, flow, and other critical process variables.
  • Power Distribution: Design and integrate power distribution systems for industrial machinery, including panel layouts and component selection for circuits up to 480VAC.
  • Troubleshooting & Support: Provide technical support and troubleshooting for existing control systems, identifying and resolving electrical and software issues.
  • Scada Engineering: Integrate control components into a Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition system.
  • Documentation: Create and maintain detailed technical documentation, including electrical schematics, program logic, and operational manuals.


Requirements

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years of proven experience in industrial controls engineering.
  • Technical Skills:
    • Proficiency with major PLC platforms (e.g., Allen-Bradley, Siemens).
    • Experience with HMI/SCADA development.
    • Strong understanding of motion control and process control principles.
    • Knowledge of industrial power distribution systems up to 480VAC and electrical safety standards (e.g., NEC, NFPA 70E).
  • Soft Skills:
    • Excellent problem-solving and analytical abilities.
    • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
    • Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
    • Capability to lead others.
  • Travel: Willingness to travel to client sites for commissioning and support.
