Controls Systems Engineer Runcorn / Cheshire Nuclear / PLC Software / SCADA £60-65kSamuel Frank is recruiting for an experienced Control Systems Engineer to join a growing systems integration business based in Cheshire. This Control Systems Engineer role will suit someone who enjoys developing PLC software from scratch, producing high-quality engineering documentation and delivering automation projects within highly regulated industrial environments.The successful Control Systems Engineer will work on control systems projects within the UK nuclear sector, supporting safety-critical facilities through the full project lifecycle. The role offers the opportunity to work on long-term projects where engineering quality, documentation and compliance are just as important as the software itself.Key aspects of the Control Systems Engineer role includeWriting PLC software from scratch for nuclear and other highly regulated process automation projectsDeveloping SCADA and HMI applications for safety-critical industrial control systemsProducing Functional Design Specifications (FDS), Software Design Specifications (SDS), FAT documentation, test procedures, commissioning documentation and technical manualsWorking across the full project lifecycle from initial design through to commissioning and customer handoverWorking to structured engineering processes and quality standards expected within the nuclear industryApproximately 80% office based and 20% site based, predominantly across North West nuclear sites with limited overnight staysSuccessful applicants will be sponsored through the relevant UK security clearance process, making this an excellent opportunity for engineers looking to establish a long-term career within the nuclear sectorThe successful Control Systems Engineer is likely to haveStrong PLC software development experience, ideally using Siemens or Rockwell / Allen Bradley platformsExperience developing HMI and SCADA systemsPrevious experience producing structured engineering documentation including FDS, SDS, FAT documentation and test proceduresUnderstanding of industrial networking and communication protocolsExperience working within regulated industries such as nuclear, defence, pharmaceuticals, chemicals, utilities, oil & gas or process manufacturing would be advantageousAn appreciation of functional safety standards, quality assurance processes and industrial cyber security principlesA methodical approach with strong attention to detail and an appreciation of working within controlled engineering environmentsFull UK driving licenceEligibility to obtain UK Security Clearance (SC).
