CONTROL SYSTEMS ENGINEER
- Structures Test Technologist – Aerospace Testing
- Based on-site in Filton
- Work on cutting-edge aircraft & zero-emissions R&D programmes
- £58 per hour via Umbrella
- Initial contract until Feb 2027
ABOUT THE CLIENT
Our client is a globally recognised aerospace engineering organisation delivering advanced research, development and testing across commercial aircraft programmes and next- sustainable aviation projects. Based within a unique, government-backed integrated research and test centre, they are investing heavily in innovation including digital hybrid testing and zero-emissions aircraft. Due to continued programme demand, they are now seeking an experienced Structures Test Technologist to join their UK Structures Test team.
THE STRUCTURES TEST TECHNOLOGIST ROLE:
As a Structures Test Technologist, you will support both serial aircraft programmes and research & development activities through hands-on and office-based engineering work. You will contribute to the design, setup and operation of structural tests, including hydraulic loading systems and control/data acquisition systems. The role involves working across the full structural test pyramid, calibration of equipment, supporting subcontract activities, risk management, stakeholder coordination and continuous improvement initiatives. You will also contribute to innovation projects including digital and hybrid testing technologies.
STRUCTURES TEST TECHNOLOGIST ESSENTIAL SKILLS
- 5+ years’ experience in structural testing, control systems or aeronautical structures
- Strong working knowledge of MOOG Control Systems (architecture, calibration, PID tuning)
- Experience with servo-hydraulic control systems (design, maintenance & operation)
- Experience using Aerotest Software (Test Manager, Test Explorer, SmartBAR)
- Project delivery experience (time, cost, quality)
- Strong stakeholder communication skills
- Desirable: HBK Catman, universal test machines, supplier management, digital / hybrid testing exposure.
