Control & Instrumentation Engineer

About the Role



We are working on behalf of one of our valued clients to recruit an experienced Control & Instrumentation (C&I) Engineer.



This is an excellent opportunity to join a forward-thinking organisation within the energy sector. The successful candidate will be responsible for the operation, maintenance, and development of control, automation, and metering systems across district heating, cooling, and private wire electricity networks.



You’ll use your expertise in SCADA, PLC, BMS, and fiscal metering to ensure safe, efficient, and reliable network performance.



Key Responsibilities

Maintain, develop, and optimise SCADA and PLC systems for district energy assets.



*



Manage Building Management Systems (BMS) across multiple sites, ensuring full integration with SCADA and PLC controls.



*



Act as system administrator/integrator for Wonderware System Platform.



*



Oversee fiscal metering and AMR systems (M-Bus, GSM, LoRaWAN).



*



Ensure compliance with regulatory and industry standards.



*



Conduct inspections, testing, fault diagnosis, and repairs of control and instrumentation systems.



*



Support upgrades, expansion projects, and integration of new assets.



*



Liaise with contractors, suppliers, and system integrators.



*



Maintain accurate technical documentation and configurations.



*



Support cyber-security and data integrity initiatives for control systems.



*



Provide technical guidance and training to colleagues.



Candidate Requirements



Experience & Knowledge



*



Background in district energy, utilities, or process industries.



*



Experience with operational technology (OT) cyber security.



*



Knowledge of energy regulation and metering standards (desirable).



Qualifications



*



HNC/HND/Degree (or equivalent) in Electrical, Electronic, Control, or Instrumentation Engineering.



*



EngTech or IEng registration (or working towards).



Technical Skills



*



Strong hands-on experience with SCADA and PLC systems.



*



Proven experience with BMS operation/integration.



*



Wonderware System Platform experience ().



*



Practical understanding of fiscal metering and AMR systems (M-Bus, GSM, LoRaWAN).



*



Excellent diagnostic and problem-solving ability.
