The Opportunity

A leading Tier 1 civil engineering contractor is looking to appoint an experienced Contracts Manager to take ownership of a portfolio of projects across the water, energy, and environmental sectors. With long-term secured frameworks in place across the UK and a strong presence in the Yorkshire region, this is an exciting opportunity to lead impactful schemes that enhance infrastructure, the environment, and local communities.



The company has a long-standing delivery partnership with a major regional water authority and is well-positioned heading into the AMP8 period, with a healthy pipeline of secured work that will keep delivery teams active for years to come.



About the Role

As Contracts Manager, you will be responsible for managing the full project lifecycle on a portfolio of civil engineering schemes. Projects may range from the restoration of reservoirs to the installation of modern water treatment systems or nature-based flood defence and biodiversity solutions.



You'll provide strategic oversight, ensure operational consistency across sites, and lead a team of Site Managers, Engineers, and other project staff to ensure safe, efficient, and successful delivery.



Key Responsibilities



Lead and motivate a team of Site Managers to ensure consistent performance across multiple live sites



Embed company culture, safety standards, and operational processes across all schemes



Ensure compliance with all regulatory, commercial, and quality standards



Drive commercial and programme performance across your portfolio



Facilitate continuous improvement, mentoring, and professional development within the team



Liaise with internal teams, clients, and stakeholders to ensure project success from inception to completion



What You'll Need



CSCS card and SSSTS or SMSTS certification



HNC or Degree in Civil Engineering (or equivalent hands-on experience)



Strong understanding of civil engineering practices across water, environmental or infrastructure sectors



Sound knowledge of NEC3 or NEC4 contracts



Excellent organisational and problem-solving abilities



Clear and effective communication skills at all levels



A valid UK driving licence and flexibility to travel across your operational region
