Position Summary

Our client is a lending Marine Construction Service seeking an experienced Contracts Manager to lead the preparation, negotiation, and administration of business contracts. This position plays a critical role in managing agreements with clients, subcontractors, vendors, and partners—including project subcontracts, customer contracts, master service agreements, and charter agreements (manned and bareboat). The Contracts Manager ensures compliance, mitigates risk, and maintains accurate records of all contract-related activities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the full contract lifecycle—from fact-checking scope, schedule, and pricing with Sales and Accounting to final execution or termination.
  • Review, redline, and negotiate contract terms in line with company policy to minimize risk in construction and dredging agreements.
  • Draft and review routine contract documents for subcontractors and third-party vendors in accordance with corporate policies.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to proactively manage contracts throughout project lifecycles, including change orders and amendments.
  • Assist in resolving contract disputes or issues as they arise.
  • Coordinate with the Risk Management team to ensure insurance and risk requirements are met across all contracts.
  • Maintain open communication with stakeholders on contract status, concerns, and changes.
  • Analyze complex solicitations and contract terms for compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and internal policies.
  • Develop negotiation strategies and participate in resolving complex contractual matters.
  • Monitor legal and regulatory changes that may impact contracts and company practices.
  • Provide guidance to internal departments regarding contract compliance and alignment with business goals.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of improved contract processes and policies.
  • Maintain accurate and organized contract documentation, ensuring compliance and performance tracking.
  • Prepare and manage routine correspondence related to contracts.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Law, Finance, or a related field.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in the construction industry.
  • At least 3 years of experience in dredging and/or the maritime sector.
  • 5+ years of contract negotiation experience .
  • Strong understanding of financial, analytical, and business operations, including P&L implications.
  • Proven ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities effectively.

Physical & Work Environment Requirements

  • Must be able to perform essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodations.
  • Must properly wear appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), including hard hats, life vests, safety glasses, steel-toed boots, and hearing protection, as required.
  • Ability to:
    • Walk, step, climb, or move across job sites of varying heights and access levels.
    • Stand, stoop, bend, crouch, kneel, or sit for extended periods.
    • Perform repetitive movements with hands, arms, shoulders, and back.
    • Lift and carry up to 30 lbs independently; items over 30 lbs (up to 60 lbs) require team lifting or assistive equipment.
    • Push and pull with a peak force of 150 lbs.
    • Climb stairs and vertical ladders exceeding 6 feet.
    • Work in confined spaces, at elevated heights, or in challenging outdoor environments including wet, dusty, or humid conditions with noise and vibration exposure.
