Content Specialist, Full-Time (Hybrid)

The American Gem Society is seeking a creative and enthusiastic Content Specialist to join our dynamic team! As a Content Specialist, you'll play a crucial role in building and maintaining our online presence, engaging with our audience, and driving brand awareness. If you have a passion for all things social media, love crafting compelling content, and are well-versed in the latest trends, we want to hear from you!

The AGS is a trade association that serves an enthusiastic community of fine jewelry retailers, designers, wholesalers/manufacturers, and service providers who work to instill consumer trust in the jewelry industry. The Content Specialist position is a full-time, exempt position. The ideal candidate is passionate about working closely with a team to achieve common goals, is detail oriented, and is interested in applying creative thinking and innovation to their position.

Responsibilities:

  • Social media posts and social monitoring, writing articles and blog posts about industry-related topics, and creating visuals for more engaging content using a mix of video and graphics
  • Create, write, review, edit, and update content for company websites, blogs, marketing materials, emails, and similar platforms
  • Produce both entertaining and educational marketing content to promote our brand and our members
  • Conduct research and interviews to learn more about current trends, developments, and perceptions about the subject matter, and then contextualize findings. Keep up to date with content trends, consumer preferences, and advancements in technology
  • Assist the marketing team with the design of promotional materials
  • Use social media to engage our audience
  • Video production (filming/editing) and using video to help promote key messaging on AGS events, our members, and other brand objectives
  • Collaborate with internal departments to establish campaign objectives, complete tasks and problem-solve
  • Create social media, blog and other content strategies
  • Utilize SEO methods to increase site traffic
  • Suggest new ways to promote and reach our audience
  • Create/implement strategies and plans to achieve goals
  • Create/manage content (editorial) calendars and ensure that the content remains consistent across all platforms
  • Create Standards Operating Procedures (SOP) for areas of responsibility
  • Track consumer and content analytics and generate reports and presentations (examples: Facebook Insights, Google Analytics, Cision Media Monitoring)

Qualifications:

  • Demonstrates strong initiative, and is proactive in seeking solutions to department objectives and goals
  • Self-starter and comfortable working autonomously
  • Strong listening and communication skills
  • Capacity to work independently and collaborate
  • Experience with social media and both online and offline marketing
  • Ability to work efficiently without compromising quality
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word), Adobe Creative Suite,  WordPress, Premier, and Canva
  • Familiarity with email marketing systems
  • Proficient in social media platforms: Facebook, Pinterest, Twitter, and Instagram. Must be comfortable with creating Reels.
  • Experience creating strong, engaging content
  • Ability to learn new platforms easily
  • Understanding of SEO best practices
  • Entry-level graphic design abilities
  • Video editing
  • Comfortable writing communication plans and marketing strategies
  • Excellent proofreading skills—this is a must

Required education and experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing, Communications, English, or similar field required
  • 3-5 years related experience

We offer a competitive benefits package, including medical, dental, vision, and life insurance as well as short-term and long-term disability and company-matched 401(k) contributions. Our regular work schedule is 37.5 hours per week, Monday through Friday. We also offer a hybrid schedule. Some overtime and weekend travel may be required with this position.
