mselect is looking to hire a Construction Supervisor (Mechanical) for a oil and gas operator in Doha, Qatar. Candidates must have a minimum of 10 years of relevant oil and gas industry experience in a similar role. Fluency in English is a must.
Key Responsibilities
• Liaise with the HSE Supervisor on safety related matters. Act as a safety leader.
• Reporting to the Discipline Construction Lead/Senior Construction Supervisor on main issues, events at site, progress reporting, trends and recommendation for improvement.
• Assist functional supervisor in review and / or approval of Construction documentation, including Method Statements, JHAs, MARs etc., and attend HSE Walkthroughs.
• Supervise all EPIC contractor’s Static & Rotating equipment inspection & installation activities are based on approved the engineering documentation and project schedule during the execution of construction activities.
• Attend Requests for Inspections (RFIs) as per approved ITPs including Material Receiving Inspections in coordination with Lead Construction Supervisor , and sign off relevant inspection and test reports / RFIs.
• Ensuring the quality of manufacturing and erection works, dimensional accuracy and , accessory and inline items installed in the correct and material design specification.
• Lead the construction contractor(s) on all mechanical aspects of the Static and Rotating Equipment installation works.
• Supervise with EPIC contractor during execution of the Static(including internals) and Rotating Equipment installation, FAT, alignment Inspection, Punch Clearing, pressure testing, Pre-Commissioning and Re-instatement at site.
• Manage and lead final mechanical completion inspections and punch closing.
• Supervisor the Pre-Com activities to ensure safety and the quality of the completed work.
• Lead the inspection activity with Vendor/Supplier at Site whenever required.
• Participate in PSSR and provide support to Operations pre-& start up activity where instructed.
• Co-ordinate mobilization of contractors on site.
• Carryout daily checks on contractor’s staff and work carried out during the previous day to ensure compliance with prescribed contractual specifications.
• Good knowledge in reading and understanding P&ID, GA, Associate structural drawings, Equipment Layout & mechanical drawings and Manufacturer manual/Recommendations.
• Maintain a daily record of progress (daily diary) noting special comments. Reports to Snr Supervisor work anomalies or contractual deviations committed by contractor personnel and recommend corrective actions.
• Sign work permits on behalf of our client's and to ensure that contractor’s compliance with work permits.
• Participate in development of as-built drawings/documentation.
• Accountable for supervising contractor’s work that is in progress, inspecting work, reporting problems and preventing accidents occurring because of negligence, by enforcing our client's safety standards on the work site.
• Liaise and report with the QA/QC Inspector on quality related matters.
Requirements
• Candidate Must possess a Degree or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering from an internationally recognized University.
• Preferably having formal training in QA/QC functional aspects.
• Candidate should have a minimum of 10 years overall experience in static and rotating equipment installation, including inspection coordination experience in the construction of midstream/downstream Oil & Gas facilities.
• Experience as an EPIC Contractor supervisor is essential. Experience as a Client or PMC supervisor is .
• Current experience in State of Qatar industrial cities and/or other GCC countries is required.
• Extensive knowledge of international and industry specific codes & standards, including ASME, ANSI, ISO, API, NFPA, SHELL DEP’s, etc. Mechanical inspector certificates (API 510 & API 653) would be an advantage.
• Extensive experience in coating systems and procedures, incl painting, galvanizing, wrapping, insulation, Refractory Lining etc. BGAS / API certification would be an advantage.
• Extensive experience in Static and Rotating Equipment Installation, FAT, Alignment, Inspection, punch list clearing, pressure testing, pre-commissioning and mechanical completion inspections, etc.
• Excellent written and oral English skills. Able to read Equipment layout and mechanical drawings, P&ID’s and manufacturer’s instructions, etc.
• Strong organizational, planning and coordination skills.
• The candidate shall have specific stated experiences in;
• Greenfield/new build construction sites,
• Brownfield/live process plants,
• Permits to work, incl Isolation & Lock Out/Tag Out of live services,
• Tie-in to live facilities, including testing and integration to existing systems,
• Stage Inspection and Testing of Construction activities as per approved ITPs
• Extensive knowledge in Lifting Plan and Crane Studies. If candidate has Approved Lifting Supervisor Certificate it would be advantage
• Strong technical, prioritization and management skills.
• Good communication, influencing and interface skills.
• Proficient knowledge of computer programs (MSOffice, Outlook, Excel, Words, PDF, Power Point, etc) and engineering software applications relevant to the discipline.
