Position Overview:
The Construction & Completions Lead will play a key role in supporting the turnover process from construction to commissioning and ultimately to operations, ensuring all project systems are properly documented, inspected, and handed over efficiently. This position will focus on coordinating construction, quality assurance, and completions activities, working closely with contractors, commissioning team, and project stakeholders. The ideal candidate will assist in tracking completions progress, managing documentation, facilitating walkdowns, and ensuring quality compliance to support a smooth transition through project phases. This role reports directly to the Lead Commissioning Engineer and collaborates with construction, engineering, and operations teams.
Position Responsibilities:
- Oversee day-to-day field construction activities and execution by contractor crews to ensure adherence to project specifications, quality standards, and safety requirements.
- Act as the primary field-level point of contact for coordinating construction progress with contractors, QA/QC personnel, and internal stakeholders.
- Support work pack planning by providing field-level input on constructability and sequencing, and lead the daily execution of work as outlined in approved work packs.
- Monitor construction productivity and report daily progress, resource utilization, and potential delays to the Construction Lead.
- Support the execution of scope of work packages, ensuring technical drawings and specifications are clearly understood and followed in the field.
- Enforce safety protocols and conduct routine field safety walks in coordination with EHS.
- Review and verify contractor work packages, redlines, and field sketches for accuracy and completeness prior to turnover.
- Coordinate and schedule craft disciplines and subcontractors to align with the construction sequence and project milestones.
- Ensure the appropriate construction tools, materials, and manpower are available to support schedule requirements.
- Support the QA/QC team by facilitating inspections and resolution of non-conformances in the field.
- Maintain accurate and detailed field records, including daily logs, field change documentation, punch list tracking, and material delivery verification.
- Support the Commissioning and Startup team by ensuring readiness of systems for pre-commissioning activities and assisting in resolving field-level construction issues that may impact commissioning progress.
- Provide leadership, mentorship, and day-to-day supervision of field techs and junior construction personnel.
Basic Qualifications:
- 7+ years of experience in field construction supervision, preferably on large industrial or capital projects.
- Strong understanding of multi-discipline construction practices including mechanical, piping, structural, and electrical scopes.
- Experience working closely with contractors, QA/QC teams, and project engineering in the field environment.
- Familiarity with reading and interpreting construction drawings, isometrics, and P&IDs.
- Proficient in MS Excel, Outlook, and construction management tools such as Procore or Smart Completions
