Job Description

Overview:

The Construction Superintendent is responsible for managing and supervising all field construction activities on assigned projects. This includes ensuring the project schedule, budget, quality standards, and safety requirements are consistently met. The role requires hands-on leadership in coordinating subcontractors, conducting inspections, maintaining documentation, and ensuring excellent communication with all stakeholders throughout the construction process.



Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide onsite leadership and build effective relationships with subcontractors to ensure project success.
  • Review and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and addendums for design accuracy and code compliance.
  • Maintain and update the project schedule daily, ensuring timely completion of milestones.
  • Perform ongoing quality checks and inspections to confirm work meets company standards.
  • Manage site logistics including safety, security, temporary utilities, and material staging.
  • Verify subcontractor compliance with contracts, insurance, safety programs, and licensing requirements before work begins.
  • Ensure all permits, licenses, and safety notices are obtained and displayed onsite.
  • Coordinate with inspection agencies, address issues promptly, and implement corrective actions.
  • Conduct daily site walk-throughs to verify progress, identify deficiencies, and manage resolutions.
  • Maintain clear communication with homebuyers, trade partners, and public officials, ensuring smooth project execution.
  • Lead key homeowner meetings including pre-construction, pre-drywall, , and final walkthroughs.


Reports To: Director of Construction

Location: On-site (Columbus, OH – relocation required before start)

Ideal Candidate Profile

An ideal candidate for this role is a hands-on, detail-oriented construction professional with at least 5 years of residential or multifamily construction management experience. They should be comfortable leading field operations, managing multiple subcontractors, and enforcing quality and safety standards. The right person thrives in a fast-paced environment, can problem-solve independently, and communicates clearly with both field teams and clients.



qualifications include:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
  • Strong working knowledge of construction codes, procedures, and inspection requirements.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel) and basic scheduling software.
  • Strong leadership, organizational, and troubleshooting skills.
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
